I’m surprised he was able to wait this long.

March 28, 2007

If you haven’t heard, the Cincinnati Bengal’s wide receiver, Chris Henry, has run into more legal trouble after being cited for three traffic charges. The three charges were driving with a suspended license, making an illegal U-Turn and finally driving without a seatbelt.

This is what, his 4th arrest in the last 14 months and he still has charges pending for who knows what. If this latest charge sticks, then Henry will certainly be looking at some jail time, about 88 days in a Kentucky prison. Henry was convicted of a giving alcohol to minors a couple of months ago and was sentenced to 90 days in prison but only served 2 days and the rest of his sentence he was put on probation. It’s true that these latest “crimes” aren’t that serious, but his record almost makes Sidney Lowe Jr. look innocent.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan released a statement Tuesday from the team that said, “While the incident involved a minor traffic matter, the club is frustrated that the issue arose at all. … Chris’s overall future with our team can be determined only after this and other pending matters are resolved by the NFL.”

I love Henry’s playing ability, the kid has amazing talent and with him the Bengal’s have one of the best receiving corps in the NFL. Standing at 6′4″, Henry is the Bengal’s number one threat in the redzone and not having a decent tight end means we desperately need Henry to get his shit together. Like I said, I love him on the field but he’s a idiot that thinks he has to be hard and shit off the field, and no matter what anyone tells him, whether it be his own coach, the Commissioner of the NFL or a judge, Henry is going to do what he wants to do. So if he doesn’t do something soon, go ahead, cut him or suspend him for the year and let him go out and get himself put back into prison or worse, killed.

Dominic Rhodes arrested for drunken driving.

February 21, 2007

Indianapolis Colt’s running back and Super Bowl MVP, Dominic Rhodes was arrested after he was pulled over at 3 a.m. driving his GMC truck 81 mph in a 55-mph zone on Interstate 65 in Indianapolis’ far northwest side, Indiana State Police spokesman 1st Sgt. Dave Bursten said.

“It was a normal, run-of-the-mill drunk driving arrest,” Bursten said.

Police also said Rhodes was cooperative with the state troopers who arrested him. Rhodes was held overnight and released on his own recognizance after an initial hearing Tuesday afternoon.

This isn’t the first time Rhodes has had a run in with the police, back in 2002, he pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of battery and domestic battery. Under an agreement with prosecutors in that case, Rhodes was charged with domestic battery but avoided prosecution. Instead, Rhodes was placed in a diversionary program and underwent mental health counseling. This doesn’t really look good for Rhodes, who will become a free-agent at the end of the month, but then again, he’ll probably be signed by the Bengals. I hear they could use some depth at running back.

When asked how he felt about Rhodes recent run in with the law, Chris Henry said the following.

Reporter: Chris, have you heard about Dominic Rhodes getting arrest for a DUI?

Henry: DUI? Thats it?

Reporter: Um, yes. But Chris that can be a serious offense.

Henry: Well did he at least hit someone or pull a Sean Taylor on them?
Come on man, you gotta come harder than that. Shit son, DUI, hahahaha. I was getting DUI’s when I was 10.

Reporter: No, in fact it was said that he was very cooperative with the police.

Henry: WHAT? He cooperated?!?! Damn, homie isn’t gonna get any street cred for this. I woulda shank that muthafucker.

Palmer: CHRIS!!! Don’t say that…they’re gonna put that shit in the papers now…you can’t go around threating to shank cops.

Henry: So. I don’t care what they write, I keep it straight gangsta all the time…*pulls out knife* Never leave home with out it…Hey take my picture.

Palmer: Ok, Chris, seriously, your not “gangsta”, your from Belle Chasse.

Henry: That don’t mean anything, whatever man I gotta go do some gangsta shit. CYA.

Today Judge Douglas Grothaus sentenced Cincinnati Bengal’s wide receiver, Chris Henry to 90 days in jail for providing alcohol to minors. Judge Grothaus is requiring Henry to serve 48 hours of the sentence, and if he messes up one more time in Kenton County, he will serve the remaining 88 days.

This latest arrest stems from a night back in April where Henry was in a Covington hotel room where minors were drinking. The prosecution said Henry was the adult who rented the hotel suite that night, drove the car to the store where the alcohol was bought and accordingly bears the responsibility under Covington ordinance for the conduct of others who were drinking in the room, which happened to include three females who were all underage.

In addition to the jail time Henry must:

  • Pay a $250 fine plus court costs.
  • Have no criminal activity for two years.
  • Not consume alcohol or drugs for two years.
  • Report to the Kentucky Alternative Program for drug and alcohol assessment.
  • Give two speeches – one at Two Rivers Middle School and one to Holmes High School athlete – on the dangers of drugs and alcohol and how they have negatively affected his career.

Right after Henry plead guilty to the charge of “permitting possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on premises,” the judge let it be know just how he felt about Chris Henry’s behavior.

“You brought most of this on yourself, if not all of it,” Judge Grothaus said. “You embarrassed yourself. you embarrassed alot of people, teammates, friends and family, the city, the fans and myself.”

Grothaus told Henry he was “a cancer” with no respect for himself, his teammates or the community.

“Mr. Henry, it’s time to grow up,” said Grothaus.

Overal Chris Henry has been arrested 4 times in the last 7 months. It’s time to stop all this nonsense, he needs to learn how to be a man and stop getting into trouble or he will be cut.

Here is a video taken from the courtroom yesterday.
